May 12 - “Seeking Dr. Josh”

We got a good start on packing for our trip to Waco. Well, up until Chris needed a breather. She crashed on the couch for an undetermined amount of minutes, so I eased into the recliner and joined her.

Nap time didn’t last more than ten or fifteen minutes, and after a quick lunch we loaded up the car. Corey and Janell came over to touch base with Freddy. Well, ostensibly to say goodbye to us and assure us that they would watch Freddy while we were gone. We really do appreciate our neighbors.

On our way we stopped at a Dairy Queen for a Blizzard. Sometime between when I went inside and came back to leave again (on a new shortcut we found), the sound on my Apple map app mysteriously stopped working. The guy just wouldn’t talk any more. We tried just about everything we could think of, but he was just on strike. We finally hooked up Chris’ phone, and her lady guided us in. Oh well. Guess I’m too old to figure out what is wrong.

Before supper, I went with Josh and Bob and Luke to watch Caleb and Zak practice football. They just started, so no pads were involved. Lots of running and drill after drill.

After a great supper we spent the evening chatting with Bob while everyone else took MaddieBelle for a walk. I closed out the evening with a rousing game of checkers with Luke. He was surprisingly good. I did beat him, but just barely.

Romans‬ ‭8‬‬:‭1 says, Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

Father, thank you for our safe trip. And thanks for helping me stay awake while driving. Amen
