Chris had one of those Texas doctor appointments yesterday. We left in plenty of time. Good thing. She decided to take the “scenic route.” Well, the choice may or may not have been … unintentional. But we got there in time for the appointment, so all was well.
Back in town we started our errand run. Random places. Walgreens. Didn’t have what we needed. Randall’s. Gas and some Vitamin B-12. And of course Walmart. Milk and bananas and a watermelon. Also a prescription for Sam. And of course we saw a lot of fun people. Sadly, they were all pretty much dressed appropriately for being in a public place.
The highlight of this phase of the trip, though, came when we were taking one last lap around the store. Just to get in some more steps, you know? When all of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I notice a streak of blue headed in our direction. It took a moment or two for my brain to move from leisurely, people-watch mode over to catch up with the extreme action now more rapidly approaching. I released my grip on the basket just in time to … receive a great hug from the incoming Walmart sales associate. Fortunately, in that split second, I also recognized her as Pedrameh, our good friend who is also in our home group.
Sigh. Welcome to Walmart. You never know what you’re gonna get.
Matthew 7:24 says, Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock.
Father, thank you for Chris’ good report. Amen.
