I felt pretty good upon awakening yesterday. Joy comes in the morning, you know. Still a little weak, but then I hadn’t eaten anything to speak of for four days. But I even went for a walk. Oh, not that I kept up with Chris or anything. I just strolled around the block. It’ll take a while.
We are granddog sitting for the next week or so with Cailyn’s pup named Marlee. She’s a miniature Australian sheepherder, or something to that effect. Gorgeous dog, but she won’t be doing any sheepherding anytime soon. For such a little dog, she is huge. And she definitely has a mind of her own. When we try to get her to go outside or into the room with Freddy, she hides under the table. So far I have had to pick her up. Except for one time when I got her on the tile and shoved her along the floor from behind. Guess that would have made for an interesting video. And even though she whines a lot (but then, so do I), she’s a good dog.
In the afternoon we went to a kind of memorial gathering in memory of a young man named Austin who went to Seaside. It was more of a party/cook-in (it was too hot to be outside). Austin’s mom Ronda and stepdad Tom rented a beach house and opened it to friends of Austin’s from the past. It was great to see the two of them as well as a few blasts from the Seaside youth group past, Kameron and her husband Amos, and Matt.
Last night we drove with Cailyn for about an hour or so on her way to Memphis. She FaceTimed us and regaled us with the play-by-play of their journey. She said if we weren’t there to talk to her, she’d for sure be talking to herself. Sounds like she is having the time of her life. Glad she shared it with us. We had fun.
Hebrews 13:8 says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Father, thanks for the chance to see Tom and Ronda and Kameron and Matt. Bless them with joy and your presence. And be with Cailyn and that crew on the road. Amen.
