July 10 - “A random sighting”

On our way to church, we saw two of those big floppy-eared, floppy-jawed hound dogs hanging their massive heads out of the windows of a car that passed us, sometimes barking, sometimes just feeling the air flop their ears and jowls.

OK. Not that unusual. But when the driver stuck his head out of the window as well? Now, that caught our attention. Not sure about his ears and jowls, but I’m pretty sure he barked a time or two.

Sadly, they sped on past us into the early Sunday morning brightness, no doubt off to a day of adventure, seeking out random creatures of the morning.

We had two treats last night. Sam texted to ask if she could come over and spend the night. She’s always fun to have around. Of course we said “come on.” Seems there was some trouble with electricity in her neighborhood. And with no electricity, the lift to her house won’t work. She can’t navigate the stairs with her bad knees, so she was in a fix.

While we were chatting with her, we heard a knock at the door. It was our new next door neighbors, Taylor and John. They had been baking cookies and wanted to bring us some while they were still hot. Some of the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had. Chip overload, for sure. And still hot. Yum.

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭18‬ says, I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Father, thank you for random weirdness sightings. They make life fun. Amen.
