Great start to this Independence Day. Pancakes and bacon. Can’t beat bacon. Especially when we had our oldest granddaughter to share it with us.
We spent all day around the house. Well, inside the house. Still too hot outside. We played a lot of card games. Kings in the Corner. Double solitaire. Slap jack. But the most fun was teaching her how to play Nuts. Honestly, she was like a deer in the headlights. I think with a little practice, though, she could be downright dangerous. April came by in the afternoon to pick her up to do some last-minute shopping for their upcoming vacation. We enjoyed a good time sharing with her. Always do.
By the time evening struck, I felt like I had been hit by a truck. Bad headache. Aching all over. No appetite. Heartburn. Belching. At times I felt like I had to throw up. Never did though. I was hoping it was just the result of being really tired and worn out.
We tried to see the fireworks last night. We located a few at the homes around us. We used to be able to see the city fireworks display from our deck. Not anymore. Our trees and our neighbors’s trees have effectively prevented that view from ever happening again.
Galatians 5:13 says, You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Father, thanks for our special time with Cailyn and then with April. Love those girls. Amen.
