July 2- “Timed entry”

The big excitement yesterday kind of exuded from the fact that it was finally July. July first. That was the first day you could tap in via computer to the National Park database online and purchase the hottest new advancement in park entry modifications … the timed entry stamp. Yep. In many of the parks you now have to have, along with your entrance fee or senior lifetime pass, an entry stamp that gives you a designated time when you can enter the park. The stamp costs all of two dollars.

So why was this a big day? Well, our next trip at this point is to Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, Colorado. That will take place the first week of August, God willing and the creek don’t rise (Galveston code for a hurricane approaching). Should be fun (the National Park, not the hurricane).

We tackled some more library projects. Mainly looking for places to put some of the things that used to hang on walls or sit on shelves. We hung a small shelf to hold a clock we have. We also arranged the tops of the shelves we recently filled up with books.

Last night we drove up to LaMarque for Micah’s birthday. He didn’t want a party - just a bowl of gumbo and good ol’ Nana and DadDad to share it with. Noa made him a birthday cake, so we did the whole birthday song thing, followed by cake and ice cream. We stayed and chatted for a while, then came on back home to watch the Astros game, since they had karate responsibilities. Good day.

Matthew 20:28 says, just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Father, thank you for Micah. Help him continue to grow in his love for you, his family, and others. Amen.
