We started our Sunday off with a little trip. We drove into Texas to pick up Cailyn. She wanted to come to Seaside with us for church. She is always welcomed with open arms and hearts by us of course, but also by all the Seaside folks who have watched her grow up.
I
met and chatted with several people new to the church. One gentleman was
invited by his nephew. He said he felt a little overdressed. I assured him that
as long as he wasn’t wearing a tie, he would be fine. He assured me that “next
time I’ll be a little more relaxed.” A
family was there that just moved to Galveston from Jacksonville, Texas. Their youngest
daughter is attending A&M Galveston. Their granddaughter made herself known
as a world-class hugger. A pretty good crowd stuck around for dinner on the
grounds after church as well. Great day.
Kel
and his family, and of course Cailyn too, came over for a while after lunch.
Cailyn braided Noa’s hair. Ezra played with the cars. Micah and Josiah joined
Kel and me watching the Astros. They didn’t stay all that long. Cailyn rode
with them back into Texas. Plans were being made to come back for our VBS this
week led by a group from Central Texas.
Later
in the afternoon we received a text from April inviting us to an impromptu
swimming party. Christina was bringing the kids over to get in the pool, so
April decided to cook some burgers and hot dogs for dinner. We jumped in the car and headed back into
Texas a second time in one day. Hey, we didn’t
want to miss the festivities. The kids
had a great time swimming. Kel and Micah
showed up just in time for the food. We missed having good ol’ Uncle Nathan
around, but he had to work.
1
Corinthians 3:16 says, “Don’t you know that you
yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your
midst?”
Father,
thank you for the way Seaside has welcomed our family over the years. Amen.
