August 2 - “Guests”

Great walk again. I found the big bucks this time … a discarded penny. Hey. Those things add up. Oh, and by the way - it’s hot out there.

We took our time recovering. Crashed in the AC, actually. Chris made some cookies for our impending guests. I discovered that I could track where they were. Fun stuff. Oh, by the way, it’s Josh and Christi and their brood. I watched some Olympics while waiting, too. Go, USA!

The guests arrived around 2:30. Christi got the kids all settled in, then she and Josh took off for their anniversary overnight stay. Yep. That left the kids with good ol’ Nani and DadDad. Can’t get any better than that, right? The only questions remaining were what to have for supper (pizza or tacos) and what time to wake up in the morning to go fishing.

Pizza won out. That was my vote, too. Caleb and Luke came with me to pick it up. I was afraid they would be really busy, but it only took the usual ten minutes. Everybody enjoyed a slice or two. Well, except AnnaGrace. She chowed down on apples instead.

We spent the evening watching the Olympics on TV. Gotta expose these youngsters to somewhat wholesome competition. Actually, the two younger ones had quite the time playing board games together. Zak was on the computer. Caleb kept one eye on the TV and one on his phone. Typical teenagers.

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭ says, Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However, they do it to receive a crown that will fade away, but we a crown that will never fade away.

Father, thank you for giving the Waco bunch a safe trip. Amen.
