Gassed up (the car). Fed up (McDonald’s bacon and egg biscuit in hand). On the road. All by 8 a.m. We decided to come on back home early to touch base with our friends, the Stones. Jim’s mom is in the hospital.
For a Saturday the roads were not all that busy. At Buc-ees we did see a few youth baseball teams. And a girls basketball team. And a high school band. The place was pretty packed. All went smoothly, though. Bathroom break and big cinnamon roll for more future breakfasts.
We decided to go straight to the hospital. We drove down Harborside St. Interesting choice. Little did we know that no less than three cruise ships were in port. That means boarding and getting off. Not to mention this is Biker Really Weekend. That meant we had to drive past all the vendors and blocked off streets. Surprisingly, traffic wasn’t all that bad.
We made it to the hospital and spent some time talking and praying with Irv. We gave Joanna some hugs and headed out. Just as we reached the front lobby door, I decided to go to the bathroom before we left. You never know what traffic hangups might be lurking.
I backtracked to the bathroom, and who should I meet coming out, but our friend and Joanna’s son, Jim. I told him I knew there was a reason I had to go to the bathroom. He replied, “Yeah. God knew to tweak two bladders at just the right time.” We leaned against the sinks and talked for a long time. We finally decided we’d better head on out before Chris sent in a security guard. Great talking to you, Jim.
We made our way home by sticking to the back roads through town. Janell brought Freddy home shortly after we arrived. Time to crash? Nope.
We decided to try to get the shed back onto the side of the house. I knew it would be a tight fit. We even tried unscrewing the roof. But sadly, it was just not to be. Apparently the positioning of the new fence is just a bit different from what the old one was. Even without the roof, it just wouldn’t fit. So we wiggled and pulled and finally got it back out. On to Plan B. We reset it next to the back of the house. Not where we wanted it, but it’ll have to do. Tomorrow I have to finish screwing the roof back on, get the front leveled, get the doors back on, and reload it with the stuff I took out. And then we can deal with the rest of the stuff we moved away from the house for the painters.
1 Peter 2:24 says, He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness; you have been healed by His wounds.
Father, we’re still praying for Joanna and Irv and Jim and their family. Touch them where they need you the most. Amen.
