Well, we did it. We agreed to refurbish the deck. After going up there numerous times while the most recent work was being done, it became obvious that the deck boards were peeling and splintering. It is basically a hazard, particularly for bare feet, which, by the way, is the preferred version of footwear for our grandchildren. Sigh. There’s another big financial hit going into the Christmas season. Feels like we just barely survived a hurricane. … minus the insurance coverage.
Imagine my surprise when I got a call from our contractor friend John around 8 a.m. He was ready to start demo on the deck if we were ready for them. That’s an amazingly quick response time. The guys were here before 9, hard at work tearing things up. I guess that’s the fun part for everyone.
They worked up there all day, and we now have a large pile of dead lumber in the backyard. They are due back here this morning to keep it going.
Proverbs 16:9 says, A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps.
Father, keep the deck workers safe as they bring that tired old thing back to life.
