The deck guys were back again in the morning, but they didn’t stay very long. They started some sanding, still haven’t finished that last cap. I’m sure the contractor has some kind of crisis at another shoes.
While they were gone, we snuck outside into the construction zone. Chris moved around some plants. We also installed a little bit better bracing package on one of the fence boards using some scraps. We didn’t stop there, though. We also hung up the big Celtic cross. Baby steps.
The workers were back around 11:30, in time to enjoy their lunch break. Guess our backyard is the ideal spot for outdoor dining.
By the time they left, the deck was done. Sturdy as can be. They still have to come back today (hopefully) with a trailer so they can haul off all the trash lumber. We are ready.
Jachin joined us for supper again. His Community group meets on Thursdays, so he comes here after work to eat with us. Shrimp gumbo. Of course for him it was chicken gumbo. He picked out the shrimp. And the okra. He did go back in for seconds, though. Hungry kid.
We did have a late night. We got word that our friend JoAnna died at home. She was under hospice care at the time, so they were keeping her comfortable her husband and son were with her. We went over as soon as we heard, and stayed until the funeral home representatives arrived. As Erv (her husband) said, “The battle is over.” She is at peace.
Philippians 4:4 says, Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Father, thanks for watching over those guys who refurbished the deck. Be with them today as they haul that nail-infested wood. Amen.
