We had a huge surprise visit from an old Oklahoma friend (by way of Denver when I was his youth pastor). Ryan Dennis, Josh’s best friend since jr high, rang our doorbell. They had been on a cruise and he was just stopping by to say hello before heading home to Oklahoma. Imagine his surprise when Josh rounded the corner from the kitchen. It was a real old home reunion for us all. Great to see you, Ryan.
The Waco family loaded up and headed home not long after Ryan. Something about a fire in the fireplace and decorating their tree. Oh, and the “guest” Zak has coming over to join them. We have met her. She is a cute one, and seems very sweet.
I guess that marks the beginning of the end of the Thanksgiving holiday. Oh, Chris won’t consider it over until she is able to do a thorough sweep and mop of the premises, inspect the Christmas decorations that have been started, and complete the rest of them so we can move the decorations’ boxes to the garage. Whew! And I just thought it would be a quiet week before my surgery.
And speaking of decorating…
After church we stayed around for a while to do some more decorating for Bethlehem Street Market and to get the church ready for Advent next Sunday. I think we (Well, OK. I guess it’s more accurate to say “they”. I wasn’t allowed to pick up anything) got the worship center looking good. There are still some trees and wreaths to be finished upstairs, and of course all the tables need to be set up. It’s great to have Glenn and Anita and Corey and Janell there helping. They are really hard workers. Thanks, guys.
1 John 4:18 says, There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Father, please give a special blessing to the ones who stayed and worked so hard yesterday. Amen.
