November 17 - “An Excursion”

We spent a good hour or so in Walmart yesterday for Thanksgiving stuff. Well, mainly Thanksgiving stuff. We did check on that truck battery again. And we actually had some movement there. The guy told us he would stop by the League City Walmart on his way in to work this morning and pick us up a battery. Here’s hoping …

Back to the shopping excursion. It was pretty obvious that the holidays are approaching. Lots of folks were milling about. No particular place was busier than another. Until … the Baking Isle. That place was pretty crazy. You would think people have plans to  bake stuff next week. Personally, I stayed out of there. In fact, I wasn’t alone. Another husband camped out with me at one end of the isle while our wives searched for just the right ingredients for making a feast … a feast.

We also planned to pick up a prescription for Sam. However, when we got to the pharmacy window, it was shut tighter than a drum. Closed for lunch. Hey. Everybody’s gotta eat, right?

So we loaded up the groceries and went to Randall’s. Couldn’t pass up another sale on Blue Bell ice cream. It didn’t take us long, in spite of a snafu using the app to get the sale price. Not our fault this time. The scanning gun didn’t work. We ended up having to switch stations. Got it done, though. Well, with a little help from my friend (a Randall’s customer service manager).

Finally it was back to Walmart for Sam’s prescriptions. No problems this time, other than having to give my ID and then having to go to counseling with the pharmacist to make sure we knew what we were getting.

Last night we continued our home group study. Still in 1 Samuel. David is trying to earn himself a wife. No luck so far, but his prospects are looking up. Maybe after Thanksgiving …

Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ says, Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Father, thanks for our home group folks and the way they pray for each other. Amen.
