November 19 - “Stranded”

We made an attempt to leave the Island yesterday. The plan was to attend the tailgating and the football game at Houston Christian University, our alma mater. However, after we turned onto Broadway, the road over the causeway and out of town, traffic came to a dead stop. We checked the GPS. It was going to take us almost two hours just to get to Kel’s house in LaMarque. Seems construction had all but one lane closed down.

Chris made a rather remarkable decision. She whipped around off the main road, past the on ramp, over the curb and onto the feeder street. We turned around and headed back home. How about a reboot of our entire day?

Well, OK then. We started off at Home Depot where we bought a Christmas tree. Yes, Nathan. Mom actually agreed to spring for a pre-lit tree.  Can you believe it? We also had to pick up some more spices for the turkey rub - that awesome mixture of amazingness that makes for such great taste in the fried turkeys.  Ready to go.

And speaking of ready, when we got home we put that turkey rub  to use. Well, Chris actually did the hard work. I just helped with pulling out the neck and gizzards from the insides. Chris applied the rub inside and out and got them situated in the fridge. Now … ready for Tuesday.

Micah‬ ‭7‬:‭7‬ ‭ says, But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Father, thank you for always providing us another choice - a plan B - that is usually better than what we come up with. Amen.
