December 10 – “That that”

I woke up pretty early – 5:30 or so.  Got started right away on planning for the churchwide white elephant party set for next Thursday at 7 (p.m., this one).  Even created an all-new game for the occasion.  We’ll also probably reprise an old standby reindeer game that promises to be … interesting.

It was back up to the church once again for the two of us yesterday.  Chris wanted to make the final rearrangement and reassignment of vendor spaces.  With the whole extra room provided by the hard work of Lauren and Cathy (with a little help from Ed), she was able to carve out a few extra spots for those vendors who are now scheduled to be outside.  Why?  Well, as of this posting, the chance for rain tomorrow is up to 90%.  Not that that is a guarantee that Galveston will get any rain at all, but the figure is concerning.  (Did you see what I did with the double “that that”?  Isn’t English a fun language to play with?).  We also did some general policing of the grounds (in the sense of picking up trash, not arresting random people).  I dragged a broken table to the trash bins.  A heavy broken table.  Hence, “dragged.”  We still need to move a really heavy wooden picnic table into its designated area outside.  Everything else will just have to wait to get done when we get there Saturday.  Chris is really trying to make this market a special one.  Kind of a retirement going away gift from her to the church.

We got back home in time to get cleaned up and ready for home group last night.  It was our last one until next year.  Worked out well, too.  We finished out the Judges all the way up to the Big One … Samson.  Great place to start in January.

Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Father, we could really use a little window of good weather tomorrow, if that is something you could work with.  If not, we’ll be fine.  You know what we need better than we do.  Amen.
