June 17 – “Not Today”

Vacation Bible School again.  We are really not having all that many Galveston kids, but the ones who are coming seem to be getting into the flow of things.  Today three of them indicated that they were interested in finding out more about a personal relationship with Jesus.  The group from Highlands talked with them one-on-one.  We will follow up with parents as we get that information from them.

This afternoon we went to the house to put things together in an effort to be able to sleep there tonight.  Not today.  We got Mom's room set up.  It actually looks pretty good.  I moved boxes around in the yellow room so they could get the closet doors in.  They are supposed to get the new garage door in and paint the garage in the next few days.  I pulled the extra cabinet trim into the house.  They still have to come back and finish as well.  AT&T was supposed to come hook up our phone line.  When we left this afternoon we still hadn't seen them.  We have to be there tomorrow afternoon between 2 and 5 for the cable guy.  We didn't get to our bedroom at all.  I did open the filing cabinet boxes and put pads under them.  We kind of set out how we wanted the office set up.  Looks like I'll have to cut a piece of wood to make a corner section that fits on top of the file cabinets.  At least that means I'll get to use a power tool.

It was pretty disappointing not to get as much done as we wanted.  I guess our next goal will be to get in before our next weekend guest arrives - Friday.  Then Chris will have to take the girls home Saturday.  On top of everything else this week, Chris' Mom called today and said she was having trouble breathing again.  She probably needs to have her lungs drained again.  That's just beyond the precipice of stress that Chris needed this week.

1 Chronicles 16:31-33 says, "Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, 'The Lord reigns!'  32 Let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!  33 Then the trees of the forest will sing, they will sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth."

Father, in the midst of our trivial disappointment, we recognize that you reign.  Amen.
