Chris went in for her second echocardiogram/stress test yesterday. This was the one that she was engaged in last year about this time when she actually had a heart attack while hooked up to the monitors and working out on the machine. I gotta admit, it was a bit stressful for me, too. Last time she went to the test by herself. Not this time. I was right there in the waiting room, reading magazines and trolling Facebook. They warned us that it would take an hour to an hour and a half. She went back at 9 a.m. And … drumroll here … she walked back out into the waiting room around 10:30. Yep. They kicked her loose. Let her come home. That, as far as I was concerned, was a major win. We won’t know the results until the cardiologist has a chance to see the data for himself, so we’re looking at probably Monday. But at least there was no major crisis that demanded her staying in the hospital for the weekend.
We
went out for brunch at IHOP to celebrate.
Actually, it was because Chris hadn’t eaten since supper the night
before, so she was really hungry. We haven’t
been there in I don’t know how long. And
we had to dodge motorcycles to get there.
This weekend is the big motorcycle rally in Galveston, so traffic is
already being re-routed around venue sites.
The wait at the restaurant was around twenty minutes, but I think that
was just their go-to thing they were telling everybody. I think we were waiting about ten before they
called us. The food was about the same
as I remembered. There were some
changes, though. No more carafe of
coffee on the table to refill yourself.
No more individual little buckets of syrup on the table, either. I imagine those are Covid protocol
things. Otherwise, they would have to
disinfect the serving utensils after every use instead of the old practice of
just refilling them. Hmm. Maybe that’s one new Covid rule that’s not so
bad …
We
are headed back to the hospital today for Chris to get her incision site
checked and the device that she had implanted tested to see if it really
works. Guess we get to experience the
East End Motorcycle Madness. Maybe we
will be early enough to avoid most of it.
Psalm
19:7 says, “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.”
Father,
thank you that Chris did well enough on her test to come back home. Sounds kind of funny to say it that way, I
guess. But I am glad she’s here. Amen.
