Chris had a fabulous start to her day. She was privileged to begin her next twenty-four hours in the sun with yet another of her favorite experiences of all times – a Covid test. Yep. Those wonderful footlong Q-tips sent caroming into the farthest reaches of your brain until the entire stick and two-thirds of the administrator’s arm have disappeared into the depths. And then … repeat into the other nostril. Fortunately, however, the one person on the planet who has mastered the art of performing the test while making the subject think she is merely swabbing a tiny area just inside the nose, Brittany, was on duty. In and out. No problem. And Chris got the results back early this morning. She doesn’t have Covid. WooHoo.
Not
that she was sick or anything. The test
was required so she can have the further privilege of doing another test
tomorrow. She has to do another stress
test on her heart to see if the other partial blockages she has in her system
have gotten worse, causing the chest pains and dizzy spells she has still been
having off and on. I’m going with her
this time, though. Last time she did
this test, they didn’t let her go home until she had surgery. Yep. Think
I’ll stick around this time …
Speaking
of medical stuff, Christina has settled into her new digs at the rehab
center. Jachin and Micah have each been
to see her, and it looks like Josiah might see her soon. She is transitioning down from high flow
oxygen, through low flow, and into regular.
As soon as she gets there, Noa and Ezra will be allowed to see her in the
facility’s atrium. It has been a long
month for them away from Mom – and for Mom away from them. We have been called back into grandparent
duty again today. Jachin has a baseball
game in Houston. The others all have karate. Kel will be at the rehab center. We will make it work.
We
figured out a way to get in a few steps yesterday. You guessed it. We went to WalMart. We needed some groceries after being gone to
Waco last week, so off we went. We didn’t
do the whole store trek two or three times like we have done in the past. But we both ended up with over a mile on our
walking meters (a.k.a. phones). I
anticipate Chris will be chomping at the bit to walk this morning …
John
14:21 says, “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves
me. The one who loves me will be loved
by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
Father,
thank you for the progress Christina has made.
Please help her continue to improve so those last two babies of hers can
see Mommy. Amen.
