Chris had a task yesterday that was not a very hard one. She was supposed to take Josiah to a doctor’s appointment. However, when she arrived to pick him, Kel had realized that the appointment was actually for two hours earlier than he thought. He called to apologize and reschedule. After one brief further miscue, the final reschedule was set for Wednesday. Oh, the miscue? He originally set it for Monday. However, that would mean Josiah would have to miss the classes he is in at the Homeschool Co-op. He was actually over the moon excited and happy to make such a sacrifice, but no. Dad called back and switched it to Wednesday.
So
that left Chris all the way up in Texas.
But she had a brainstorm. Turning
to Josiah she suggested, “How about you and I going over to Sonic and getting everyone
a slush?” That idea was more than agreeable
to him. Actually, she said his eyes lit
up at the opportunity. After all, it’s
not often you get to go on a date with your Nana, all by yourself, when you
have three brothers and a sister.
The
date went smoothly enough. Just one
miscue there. They gave everyone’s order
at the drive-through and pulled into the pick-up lane. However, when the cups began to handed through
the window, it became apparent that they were not slushes, but plain
drinks. Nope. Back through the window to start over
again. Kind of held up the line for a
few extra minutes, but all was forgiven.
They didn’t even have to pay the difference between the cost of the slushes
and the regular drinks. That’s
definitely a win.
Which
brings me to today’s update on the Christina Calendar. Kel talked with a nurse and found out that
Christina was actually doing pretty well.
She slept a lot, which she really needed to do. And then came the guardedly optimistic, yet
exciting news that there was a fairly good chance that she would be moved out
of ICU sometime today. No promises, of
course, but a chance. And beyond that,
she will be evaluated by physical therapy to begin their portion of the recovery/rehab. In the meantime … how about we avoid any more
“However’s”? Be strong, Christina. We are praying for you out here.
John
15:12 says, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”
Father,
please give Christina an extra boost of energy as she takes the next steps
toward moving forward and away from this Covid mess. Amen.
