October 3 – “And the Covid”

We had an early start to the day.  Cailyn had a basketball game at nine.  I know.  Not so early.  But it was in Alvin, which is about an hour away from here.  Early start.  The good guys won one and lost one.  They have really improved since the last game we saw.  Especially Cailyn, of course.

On the way home we stopped by Kel’s to check on him and Christina and the kids.  And the Covid.  Nathan and April came, too.  They made us stay outside.  Again, the Covid.  We took a walk up and down the sidewalk and did some praying.  Kel was not doing too bad.  He just feels like he has a cold.  Christina was having more problems, though.

As it turned out, Christina and Kel called around and found out that the Hospitality ER here in Galveston would see her and decide if she could have one of the infusion treatments.  Enter Jachin.  He had to do some adulting.  He drove his Mom into Galveston by himself.  He had to leave her there and head back home.  Why?  Her O2 sats were in the low 80’s.  The doc decided that the infusion therapy would have to wait.  She needed to be admitted to the hospital.  At issue was … which hospital?  Since they were a stand-alone ER, they had the “luxury” of calling around for the nearest hospital with an available bed and having her transported by ambulance.

It was a long night for all of us.  Finally, around five this morning, Chris got a text from Kel.  Christina had been admitted to St. Luke’s in the Houston Medical Center.  They had her in the ICU so they could give her high flow oxygen and remdesivir (I misspelled that and it was autocorrected.  Guess it’s been around long enough for the Word dictionary to have it on hand).  They will re-evaluate the antibody infusion later.  They told Kel they expected to move her out of ICU later today and get her up and walking around.

Meanwhile, back at the house … kudos to Micah.  He made sure the Little Guys were fed and had plenty of opportunity to drink as they dealt with their own “and the Covid” as well as missing Mommy.  His own share of adulting.  Josiah is doing well, so I guess he’ll have “play with the Little Guys” duty.  Family pitching in …

1 John 1:7 says, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”

Father, please do yet another case of invasion today.  Christina really needs some healing.  Thank you that she is in a good place for that to happen.  Kel needs some peace as well as healing of his own.  The Little Guys need healing, too, but they also need to know Mom is OK.  Thank you for Jachin and Micah and Josiah stepping up and doing what they can to help.  Bless them for that.  Amen.
