October 10 – “everything but the kitchen sink”

Several new things are going on with Christina now.  They are giving her a different anti-viral to fight against the actual Covid virus.  They are also fighting the pneumonia that is stubbornly sticking around.  Her white blood cell count was elevated yesterday, so they are adding two different antibiotics to the mix as well to fight off infection.  This battleground that is Christina’s body is hosting attacks on three different fronts all at the same time.  It is the prayers of believers all over the country that sustained her up to this point.  Please don’t stop now.

You know how sometimes so much is going on that you say, “I’m dealing with everything but the kitchen sink”?  Or you are trying to pack, and you are throwing “everything but the kitchen sink” into your suitcase?  Or maybe you are in school, and the teacher is preparing you for a test, and she says that the test will cover “everything but the kitchen sink”?

Well, we may have felt that way lately, but the last few days we have been dealing with … the kitchen sink.  Somehow the knob that controls the hot water became stripped inside.  As a result we have to turn the handle farther and farther around to get the water to turn off.  And the way the mechanism is built, there is no access to repair just that.  So how do we solve this dilemma?  We went to Home Depot to get a new kitchen sink faucet set.  Thankfully, there weren’t a lot of choices, so Chris made her selection fairly quickly.  We worked together to get the old one off and the new one installed.  I was under the sink, and she was up top.  Those things are a lot easier to put in than I remember them being several years ago when we put the last one in.  But then I am older and wiser now, right?

Last night we made another quick trip up to LaMarque.  This time it was to pick up Josiah.  He wanted to go to Seaside this morning, so he spent the night with us.  Sadly, his buddy Brennan will be at baseball games this morning, but I think he’ll find something to do.  In fact, we may get some help to move the ping pong table out of storage and into one of the empty rooms upstairs.

Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Father, please add your strength to the battle going on in Christina’s body.  And give Kel and Noa and Ezra a four-day boost of stamina and patience to get through to their quarantine release day on Wednesday.  Amen.
