October 16 – “Oops. Sorry about that”

Right to the Christina Saga.  She is doing really well.  Well enough to be considerably … bored.  When she woke up yesterday, she found all of her stuff packed up and ready to move.  She was finally being released from ICU and moved to a room on the step-down unit.  What an exciting time.  She let Kel know so he could text all the family.  And then … one of the nurses arrived to let her know that the bed they had for her?  It was gone.  Given to someone else.  Oops.  Sorry about that.  Settle back in and enjoy your stay …

We headed back to LaMarque for day two of Super-Cleaning Duty.  I had upstairs rooms this time.  Chris took bathroom duty.  My rooms were the ones currently acting as the abode for Jachin as well as Micah and Josiah (those two share a room).  Oh, and I also had the hall.  When we first got there, Chris announced that her kitchen better still look like it did when she left.  Other than a few dishes in the sink, it looked pretty good.  Oh, and the crockpot from the night before was still full of roast and veggies.  We got that into the fridge right away, though.

Meanwhile, Micah and Josiah realized that I was heading to their room next, so they hustled upstairs into their room.  They returned from their brief journey and Micah announced, “Our room is looking really fine, DadDad.  You won’t even need to go in there to check it.”  Right.  I checked it.  To their credit, there weren’t as many clothes on the floor.  But it wasn’t exactly “fine.”  I dove in and got the floor cleared enough to run the vacuum.  That has always been my goal in this cleaning encounter.

We chatted a lot with Kel before Chris announced that we were finished with this particular endeavor.  I think she is planning to take Micah and Josiah to a karate thing around noon today, but other than that we are off duty for the weekend, as far as we know.  Oh, we did make it home in plenty of time to watch the Astros game.  Plenty of time, seeing how it didn’t end until well after eleven.  No extra innings or high scores.  Just took a long time.  And the good guys ended up winning the game, too.  Go Astros.

Ecclesiastes 7:9 says, “Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.”

Father, please continue to heal Christina as she comes back from this illness.  Ease her aches and pains and quell any worries she may have so she can rest.  Amen.
