Well, Kel didn’t get the antibody infusion after all. His tendency toward vaso-vagal synchopy got the better of him. He almost passed out before they could even get started. He has a pretty serious aversion to needles. Even talking about them gets him. All he needed was a place to lie down, but they didn’t move fast enough. He was still willing to go through with it, but they absolutely refused. Said it was “too dangerous.” Not sure if I agree with that assessment. And I’m not sure what exactly he and his doctor will do next. Ride it out, I suppose. The bigger news came last night. Seems they got some of those at-home rapid tests. Noa and Ezra apparently showed positive on theirs. That is a predicament. Neither has been showing any significant symptoms as of yet.
We
went into Texas last night for my cousin’s wedding. Actually it was my cousin’s daughter. I guess that makes her my cousin as well, but
there is probably one of those prefixes or suffixes involved. You know, one of those designations like “second”
or maybe “once removed.” I think I’ll
just stick with “cousin.” Either way, it
was really good to see a lot of our family members that we haven’t had a chance
to lay eyes on for quite some time. Jer
from Florida was there. So was his
sister Kristen and her husband Clayton from Maryland and his other sister Karen
from somewhere near Chicago. Both of my
brothers were there. Stan had his wife
Sue on his arm. Jay’s wife Fran was at
home getting ready for their trip to Austin.
They were scheduled to leave as soon as he got home. The music was loud. The dancing was spirited. The food was not too bad, actually … for
wedding fare. Especially after they
brought out the shrimp. Can’t go wrong
with shrimp. They even had the good kind
of icing on the cake. Word is that the
girls are planning a family reunion sometime in the Spring or early Fall. Maybe even in Galveston. Sounds like a plan …
Ecclesiastes
4:9 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for
their labor.”
Father,
thank you for the chance to see some relatives we haven’t seen in a while. Be with Lauren and Matt as they venture on in
their life together. Please give Kel and
Christina an extra boost in their healing, and touch Noa and Ezra to bring them
healing quickly with as few symptoms as possible. Amen.
