February 28 – “She’s baaaack”

I thought we could just sneak in at Seaside for church yesterday.  You know, get there right at start time – or maybe a little later – slide in through the back door and right onto a back row.  Yeah … nope.  We got caught.  Aside from the folks attempting the same thing who saw us in the parking lot and asked how it felt to be “on the other side,” and the ones who saw us once we were inside (the building isn’t that big, anyway), and it’s not like Seaside starts right on time – Kel saw us and proceeded to acknowledge our presence as “Our Pastor Emeritus and Mama Chris Emeritus.”  It was kind of fun, actually.  He promised/threatened to do that every time we showed up.  We’ll see if he remembers that …

One reason we arrived so late was that we drove up to Santa Fe to get Cailyn so she could join us for church.  The folks at Seaside really like her and ask about her all the time.  In fact, I was chatting with one of the guys, when Noa came up to me for a quick hug.  The guy, who had not seen Cailyn yet, asked her, “Is your cousin here?  She never wears shoes, either.”  Noa assured him that Cailyn was indeed there (She’s baaaack), and not only that, “she’s wearing shoes right now.”  I don’t think he believed her.

After church Cailyn and Josiah and Noa came over for the afternoon.  They found some kind of game to play on the computer.  Sounded a lot like the old board game, “The Game of Life.”  I used the down time to work on the jigsaw puzzle.  Got most of the sky in, too.  Of course, that eliminates all the easy parts …

Isaiah 55:6-7 says, “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.  Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts.  Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.”

Father, thank you for the folks at Seaside and for the way they love on our family.  Amen.
