February 7 - “Oh, and …”

What a great way to start my day. How about a trip to the dentist?  Yep. It’s time to follow up my root canal with the fitting for the crown.

Oh, and to get my five-year panoramic picture of my teeth. Oh, and to have a general overview of all my teeth entered into my permanent record. Oh, and to set up an appointment to fix “two tiny little areas before they grow and make us have to do root canals and crowns on them, too.”  (Wait. So cavities have become intranational terrorists, holding me and the dentist hostage?) Oh, and to get the rest of my teeth cleaned. (I assume the new temporary crown didn’t need it).  Oh, and to set up an appointment to get said temporary crown removed and replace it with a permanent one. Oh, and to arrange for payment of the whole thing. Oh, except the tiny little fillings next time aren’t included in the package deal so far. Enough! I already don’t like going to the dentist.

At least she (my dentist) told me that I was pretty special. She had looked at the root canal results and had talked to the specialist who did it.  Seems that he found not on or two roots, but five. And two of them had branched together. She said, “I I had attempted that root canal, I would have had to stop halfway through and refer you to him anyway. I’m glad you went to him in the first place. Oh, and he did a beautiful job. It looks just beautiful.”

There you have it, folks from the healthy mouth of an independent specialist. I’m special. Oh, and I have a beautiful root canal.

2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ says, The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Father, thank you for directing me to a dentist I trust. Amen.
