Welcome to Groundhog Day. Well, I guess that would be the day after now. Word has it that ol’ Punxutawny Phil saw his shadow. I think that means early Spring. Actually I always get them confused. What I do know is that Sherman the Seagull, the original Grungebird, saw not only his shadow, but that of about a hundred of his closest friends in the Walmart parking lot. What does that mean for us?
And to celebrate such a momentous occasion, we drove into Texas. Not for a vacation, sadly. Not even for a romantic Groundhog Day getaway. Chris had a follow-up appointment with her surgeon. In a nutshell … All was well. “Check back with me in a year.” Woohoo.
On the way home we stopped at the post office for some stamps, then made a quick stop at Home Depot. We were looking for some pre-cut bed slats to fit a full size (double) bed. No luck. Guess we’ll have to get some regular 1X4’s and cut them to fit.
We also had two phone calls in the afternoon. One was from Josh. He was just doing his weekly Friday check-in. The other was from the Huntley’s. They were getting with us on which excursions we were going to sign up for on our cruise in April. Getting close.
Matthew 18:12 says, What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?
Father, thank you for the great news from Chris’ surgeon. We needed that. Amen.
