So much for sleeping in. Or for just making it to 5 or 6, for that matter. Guess I jinxed it yesterday when I mentioned it in the blog. Next night? Awake at 2:30 with hip issues. Into the recliner around 3. Once there I did doze off and stay relatively comfortable until almost 6. Sure hope that shot on Friday will take care of this pain.
We
were kind of trapped in our house for most of the morning. The city decided to
replace some water lines (much, much needed work) before they complete the
street repaving. They parked their trailer full of pipes right in front of our
house. Our front yard in effect became the staging area.
We
did manage to squeeze our way out of the driveway long enough to go to lunch
with Dale and Debi. Dale is pastor of Elliott Baptist Church outside of Hearne,
Texas. They have been coming down to Seaside for many years. We enjoyed a Shrimp
n Stuff lunch and the company.
After
lunch we made our yearly Thanksgiving trip to the grocery store. That meant
picking up, along with what we needed for the week, turkeys and oil for frying.
That oil has literally doubled in price since we started frying turkeys instead
of baking them. It’s almost not worth it. As it stands now, I guess we’ll only
have one pot going. Makes for a long day with seven turkeys to fry at an hour
apiece.
Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect
peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Father,
please be with Dale and Debi as they face decisions about retirement and Debi’s
knee surgery. Amen.
