We managed to leave the house around 11:30 for our next excursion. This time we headed to Waco, ostensibly to go to the Texas Baptist Convention. Of course, it being in Waco comes with the added incentive of a place to stay that contains grandkids. And speaking of grandkids, we picked up a few extra to go with us. Micah and Josiah crammed their stuff into the car and get then crammed themselves in after it. There was no seeing out the back window for the driver, but we got it all in there. Of course we also hit some serious construction traffic almost immediately. It did slow us down, but we persevered.
After a quick stop for gas and some food - at Buc-ees of course - we zipped into Bryan for Zakary’s football game. It was cold. Real football weather. Somewhere in the 40’s. Miserable. And to top it off, the bad guys won 33-20. That’s actually a really close game for six-man football. That ended the season, though. A good showing in the playoffs for a first-year team.
Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Father, thanks for the safe trip to the football game. And thanks for coats and blankets. Amen.
