November 19 - “So close, yet again”

It was a quiet day in the neighborhood. The kids and Christi were at the homeschool co-op day. We did join Josh on his walk with MaddieBelle. Can’t say he took her for the walk. She was definitely doing the tugging on that leash. Once we got to the park he was able to remove the leash and let her run. And run she did. She chased birds and explored bushes and was enjoying every minute.

Christi came home at lunchtime, and she and Josh took us out to eat. They chose a place called the Brown House Cafe. I had to ask Chris just now what that name was. I keep wanting to call it the Brown Cow that sells chocolate milk. I had chicken fried steak and crispy fried okra and cheesy mac and cheese. Decadent, not-so-healthy-but-oh-so-tasty food.

After lunch we went over to the SAS shoe store. Chris has been looking for one to replace the insole of her dress shoes. Success. While there, I checked out their shoes for men. They have a great reputation, and Chris swears by them. They are really expensive, though. We talked about it decided to give them a try. They better last about five times longer than my last five pair have.

Last night we hit yet another basketball game. This one was Zak’s. They were playing a bit of a rivalry game, so tensions were high. I don’t think the refs expected it to be such an intense game, either. They missed quite a few calls both ways. Zak’s team at one point was behind by 19. They came back in the fourth quarter and fell just short, 43-39. Real similar to what Caleb’s team did. Zak played a great game. The whole team did well, seeing as how the other team had two guys who were 6’4”.  I was proud of our guys.

James 1:17 says, Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Father, help these boys get plenty of rest as they continue to work hard and get better and better. And be with the parents who have to live through these crazy close games. Amen.
