There was a visitation yesterday. Somewhat expected, but the timing was unclear. Kind of like death, I suppose. But, no. This time it was … Jachin. Our oldest grandson came over to mow our grass and receive instructions for watering the grass and all of Chris’ flowers while we are out of town.
We
chatted for a while first after he arrived, then he headed on outside to get
the mowing done. He edged as well. As he was finishing, Chris told me to ask him if
he wanted to sweep the sidewalk or blow it with the leaf blower. What a question. I presented the option to Jachin, and he responded
in true “guy” fashion. He grabbed the
leaf blower. Come on, Nana. A long stick with grass tied to the end or a
power tool. What kind of choice is
that? That’s my boy, Jachin.
When
he finished the yard, Chris went over the watering schedule with him. Then he sat down, and we just chatted for a
long time. We told him we saw on Nana’s “Find
a friend” app that he went to the Astros game the night before. That, of course led to a myriad of baseball
discussions. He’s in a baseball summer
league. He has several life events
rapidly approaching, as well. Youth
camp. A summer missions trip to
Boston. Not to mention college.
Once
he was gone, we attacked the house to get it cleaned up, both for home group
and because we will be going out of town again.
We are headed to Waco to see AnnaGrace perform in her dance
recital. Then we’ll go on to Midlothian. We are connecting with the other two couples
with whom we will be traveling to Hawaii in April. And while we are in the vicinity (of
Arlington, not Hawaii), the Huntley’s are taking us to a Texas Rangers
baseball game … against the Astros. Yes,
of course I will be wearing my Astros gear.
In fact, I guess I should get to packing …
Ephesians
2:10 says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good
works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Father,
please ride with us on this next road trip.
Gas prices are getting really high.
Amen.
