January 12 – “Trust”

I just found out that if Seaside had the money to pay for everything we could finish out the school building in about two weeks.  We don't have the money.  Not necessarily a bad thing, though.  So far we have not borrowed.  We are still out of debt.  Working with the volunteers will probably spread out completion to six weeks or so, which is fine, I guess.  We are really getting tight with money, though.  And we have to pay the teachers and keep the school itself open.

Church attendance (and offerings) have been way down since the storm.  We are just now getting new local visitors.  I don't think it will be long before God builds us back up again.  Some church out there is going to need one of the leaders God will raise up and equip here.  At least that's how God has worked in the past at Seaside.  In the meantime, we need to learn some things about trust.  We'll have a meeting Sunday after next to do some deciding about things.  It could be a really exciting time of looking forward to completing the building and working together to get it done.  It could also be just another long business discussion.  I'm sure praying for excitement.  We need something to rally behind.

The school board meets tonight.  It will be interesting to see what their perspective is on the building.

I just heard from Chris.  It's 5 p.m. and she just got back to Bay City from Houston.  If she leaves in the next few minutes that puts her getting home around eight or so.  She made a comment about having to drive the "Tank."  I guess tomorrow we start trolling in earnest for a new car.   Chevy Cobalt still looks like the front runner.  I'm for it.  Nail it.

Psalms 4:4-5 says, "In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.  5 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the Lord."

Father, I was expecting something on trust, but that search your hearts and be silent sure hit me.  Amen.
