August 16 - “Connecting with … Old Mother Hubbard”

We spent our morning on a one hour phone call with UTMB (our doctor‘s office) and United Health Care (our insurance). I was going through all the mail that arrived while we were gone (Thank you to the Geran’s for bringing it inside for us).  And there amongst the water bill and gas bill was another one from the UTMB billing office. And it was … wrong. The front office apparently entered the wrong code, and as a result they sent a charge to the insurance company for five times what it was supposed to be. That left us responsible for the balance. Of course it “couldn’t have been their fault.”  They insisted we had to call the insurance company to get it straightened out. Sigh. We finally did make that call, and they successfully uncovered the boo-boo. Yep. Office fault. They even called the office to set them straight. So … “Ignore that bill.” Gladly.

After a quick lunch we headed to Randall’s for dog food and a few prescriptions.  And a pineapple. And gas for the car. Speaking of gas, we got 40 cents a gallon off this time because of all the expensive medicines.

From there we headed over to Walmart for some groceries. It’s always tough coming home from a trip to an empty cupboard. I know how Old Mother Hubbard felt. We had food for Freddy, though, so no sympathy there from the old lady’s dog.

1 John 1:7 says, But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”

Father, thank you for riding with us on this trip. It is good to be home for a while. Amen.
