August 2 – “Into the junk”

We certainly had a productive morning yesterday.  We were going to visit a garage sale to start the day out, but thunderstorms put a stop to that foolish thought.  Instead we joined Cathy and Lauren in the retreat center to do some cleaning.  Well, they did cleaning and we tackled the storage room.  It has become a hodge podge of junk mingled with some pretty usable stuff.  Problem is, we could never get to the usable stuff.

Our goal for the room is to get to a point where we can more effectively use the room for more than just storage.  Yesterday we managed to get one half of it cleared out and organized.  Now at least Cathy and Lauren can get to the supplies they need for cleaning.  We also created a path to a wealth of recreation supplies.  Sports balls of all kinds, volleyball poles, and even some little training tees for tee-ballers.  Next stop is attacking the other side of the room so we can establish a place for the homeschool curriculum we have and make it available for check out.

It was great to see all the work Ed has done on the center.  Lots of carpentry so far, and more to come.  The new rails and replacement boards on the deck make a huge difference.  And the inside smells … so clean.  That would be a nod to Cathy and Lauren’s hard work.  Way to go, Guys.  We are proud of you.

Colossians 1:15-16 says, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.”

Father, please bless Lauren and Ed and Cathy for their hard work.  Amen.
