May 2 – “Hog Heaven”

We finished another jigsaw puzzle yesterday.  Chris once again put the finishing piece in.  The pieces seemed huge in comparison to the 1000 piece puzzle we did a while back.  Makes it way easier …

Chris finally made herself a mask.  Matches the one she made me.  Guess that means she plans to join me when I go shopping now.  Don’t worry.  I’ll still find ways to make movies accidentally fall into our shopping cart …

We did the “order food from a restaurant and pick it up” trick yesterday.  I know.  Restaurants are opening up.  We could have gone inside and “officially” eaten out for the first time in six weeks.  Chris wasn’t quite ready for that much just yet.  But we did expand the horizons.  We went to Salsa’s.  Mexican food.  Chris was in Hog Heaven …

Last night we met up with Gary the Sign Guy at the church.  He made us some signs to post at our entrances that say “Church Parking Only Saturday 6 pm – Sunday 2 pm.”  They were designed to assure us places to park when the crowds got even crazier and vehicular traffic was still not allowed on the beach.  Governor Abbott helped us out a little there by opening up all Texas beaches.  It’s good to have the signs anyway, though.  No telling what traffic will look like this summer …

Psalms 46:1-2 says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.”

Father, thank you for the encouraging signs that we might be moving in a positive direction toward the future.  Keep our first responders safe as they deal with the big increase in calls that come with all the tourists.  Amen.
