October 1 – “A very cool wedding (literally)”

Wow.  What a beautiful day.  It started soon enough, too.  I just got back from doing a wedding on the beach.  We started at 7:00 a.m.  Temperature was 72 degrees.  Cool breeze.  Not a cloud in the sky.  Just before we started we had to stop to take some pictures of the sun rising over the water.  Couldn't miss the moment.  They will have some amazing pictures of their wedding.

The bride was 40 and the groom was 50.  And they had a tiny little 6-month-old baby boy.  He sat on a blanket through the whole thing.  Didn't make a sound.  And after the ceremony a lady who was walking on the beach offered to take some more pictures, so I was actually in one of them with the couple and another with the whole family.  That one was great.  The little guy was grabbing my wedding book, and it looked like he was reading over my shoulder.

If they could all be like that one, I could really get used to it quickly.  They hadn't told any friends or family yet that were getting married.  Their plan was to send everyone an email with one of the sunrise pictures.  Great thought.  They also said they would come visit Seaside sometime.  Of course a lot of the couples I marry say that and never show up.  We'll see.  The groom did say he likes to wade fish, so there's some hope for a future fishing buddy.

Proverbs 27:14 says, "If a man loudly blesses his neighbor early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse."

Father, thank you for all the morning people in your world.  It's good to have some cohorts to be loud with and not have it taken as a curse.  Amen.
