We got our three miles in again. Always feels good … when we finish. This time we only had one stop. We had to talk with one of the sweet ladies
in the neighborhood who really likes to sew.
So much so that she makes things for charity all the time. Blankets and bags for hospitals. Pillowcases.
Quilts. All kinds of stuff. She had a lot to talk about with Chris. Chris had to bounce some idea off of her
about the stuffed animal she is making for Luke. She has had a few glitches along the way of
this one, but I have faith in her.
She’ll get it done.
All the way up until about 12:30 I thought
the Astros game was on at noon. Should
have known they would switch it to prime time when the Yankees won out. Sigh.
Astros are always playing second fiddle to the “Almighty Yankees.”
We went to pick up Cailyn and Lexie from
school. On the way there we had a call
from Sam, a lady in our church. Seems
she fell while taking a friend to the hospital.
She didn’t get it checked out at the time, but by the time she got home
she was in a lot of pain. She called her
doctor and he told her to the ER and get checked out. Now, she lives in the West End, so that means
her house is up on stilts, so we went out there and picked her up and took her
in. We were only there for a few
hours. X-rays showed no hip fracture,
but she will probably be really sore for a few days. She ended up spending the night with us since
we have no stairs. We invited her to
stay as long as she needs to. Always welcome
at the Vaughan Bed and Breakfast …
We stopped at Whataburger after the ER
visit and brought our burgers home to watch the rest of the Astros game. Not a pretty picture, that game. The pitching wasn’t all that bad. The hitting has just disappeared for some
reason. We’re hoping they really break
out back in Houston on Thursday. Sam
says she is “officially” hosting an Astros watch party instead of Bible Study here
on Thursday night. So if you are
planning to come on Thursday, Sam says bring some food appropriate for watching
the game and cheering them on.
Acts 3:19 says, Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that
times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”
Father, please ease Sam’s discomfort, and
grant her some of your peace. Amen.
