We got in our three miler yesterday. No interruptions, good, bad or
otherwise. Just a nice opportunity to
burn off a few calories, stay in shape and chat with my wife. I recommend it …
We made a trip to Kroger when we got back
from the walk. Lauren asked us to make
arrangements to order some pumpkins for the Fall Festival next Saturday. It’s the little ones. Just the right size for the children (of all ages) to paint a face on. It took us a while. We only had to wade through three different
clerks to find one who actually does the ordering. And he was not the one Lauren has been
talking to. He assured us he would get
the order in, though. We should be able
to pick them up next Friday.
When we drove up we saw one of the fire
engines parked outside. And sure enough
we saw the crew winding through the different departments gathering supplies
for their respective dinners. I got to
talk a bit to one of the new hires, Matt as well as to Will, who just got
married not long ago. I at least shook
hands with a few others as we passed them.
They were all in their October pink uniform shirts. The department wears the pink shirts in honor
of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
At Home group last night we had our biggest
crowd in quite some time. Ten folks were
there to greet Mrs. Betty on her return from a rehab assignment. Hmm. That
sounds just like a major leaguer who has been injured, doesn’t it? Well, she is certainly a major leaguer to
us. She’s 90+ years old and always has a
sharp mind and wit. It was great to see
you up and about again, Mrs. Betty.
Chris and Lauren are headed into Texas
today for a Sam’s run. They have a list
a mile long for the craft fair food tomorrow as well as the Fall Festival next
week. I wouldn’t be surprised if they
come home with a carload of pumpkins, too.
It’s kind of scary for those two to go shopping together …
Luke 9:24 says, “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses
their life for me will save it.”
Father, please be with Chris and Lauren on their
jaunt to the mainland. Help them to find
all they need to make these events a success.
Amen.
