October 8 – “Of course”

I got an early 6 a.m. start to the regular Monday work grind.  I honestly didn’t get all that much done, but it was a start.  And I did return to the computer later in the afternoon, and I did get a lot done then, so the workday wasn’t a total loss.

So what was I doing in the meantime?  It was take the car in to the mechanic for an oil change day.  It has been continually bumped to the back burner ever since we started work on the truck, but as my Dad used to say, “Change the oil, keep the car.”  Of course we learned that this particular car requires synthetic oil.  Not an option, of course.  And Synthetic oil is more expensive that regular oil, of course.  Cha-ching.

We also had to get some yardwork done.  The grass was beginning to take over, especially in the neighbor’s yard right next to our fence.  I mowed a strip over there and ran the weedeater.  If I can keep a handle on that strip it should keep the stickerburs out of our yard.  Speaking of which, I had to hand pull a large pile of them from the front yard.  Evil interlopers.  When Chris wasn’t sweeping up after my edging, she was watering her pot plants.  Er … that would be her plants that reside in pots.  Of course you knew that.  Didn’t you?  Anyway, the green thumb lady was hard at work.

We finished up just in time.  The car was ready for pickup and we made it back and located the station showing the Astros game right after Altuve hit his first inning home run.  Of course that was the last real Astros highlight of the day.  Bad loss in that one.  Now they bring back Verlander on short rest.  Early afternoon game again, even though the Yankees already won their game.  No respect.

Sometime after the final out it started raining.  Guess we finished the yard work just in time.  The temperature even dropped below 80 degrees.  Now that’s a development.  Feel free to keep more of that coming …

Deuteronomy 6:4 says, “Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one.”

Father, this cool weather really is nice.  Thank you for the pleasant change.  Amen.
