Chris had me back on the walking trail again yesterday. Nothing exciting like getting lost in the woods of Natchez, Mississippi, though. We returned to our two mile trek through the neighborhood. One comment about that … it was hot. Welcome to Texas. Oh, we did get to say hi and chat with a few of our neighbors we haven’t seen in a while. That’s always fun.
After
some lunch we started watching the Astros play.
We had to follow so0me of the game on the phone, though. They played a double-header to finish out the
game that was postponed due to a tornado warning. And the good guys won both games.
Last
night we braved the redirected causeway traffic. The department of transportation has declared
that the small overpass just north of the causeway is unsafe for vehicles
80,000 pounds or heavier. It has to be
replaced right away (and by “right away” they mean over the next two years). That has already caused some serious ripple effects
at the port. It has also resulted in
some long waits in traffic to get off the island.
So
why would we on purpose put ourselves in such a situation? We went to see Cailyn play soccer. She was called up to the eighth grade team to
play in a game with them against Texas City.
The team lost 2-0, but Cailyn played really well. We were grandparently proud of her, of
course.
About
8:30 or 9:00 Josh and Christi and their gang arrived. They are in town for Jachin’s high school
graduation. That will be tonight in Clear
Lake, so … another trip off the island. Here
we go again …
Matthew
6:25 says, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you
will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more
than clothes?”
Father,
thank you for getting Josh and Christi and their kiddos here safely. Please be with Jachin and his graduate
cohorts tonight. Amen.
