May 12 – “Replenishment Project”

Home.  We slept in our own bed.  That was really nice.  But … then we had some work to do.  See, we fed our grass the day before we left on this latest excursion.  And after a particularly hard rain that I understand we had while we were gone … the grass grew.  As did the bushes and weeds.  I tackled the mowing and edging.  Chris worked in the flower beds and did the sweeping.  I also got the clippers out and attacked the bushes that were getting a little out of hand.  One of them definitely needs some more work, but three or four bumblebees requested that I wait until they finished gathering from the blooms.  I was happy to oblige, especially since it was really hot out there.

We got cleaned up, and our next stop was Walmart.  Well, after my nap.  And after a stop at Randall’s to pick up a prescription and fill up the car with gas.  But we finally did get to Walmart and completed our Replenishment Project, Pantry Edition.  We even got some fried chicken to go along with a salad for supper.

We placed a very important phone call.  Yesterday was Josiah’s birthday, so we had to touch base with him.  Only thing was, he didn’t answer the phone.  Instead we were greeted by … a dragon!  No, really.  A dragon answered the phone.  I thought for a moment we were trapped in Middle Earth or Narnia or something.  But then the image panned back, and we realized that the dragon, though quite real, was only about six or eight inches long.  Seems Josiah is not the proud owner (or perhaps that is vice versa) of a bearded dragon named Bossk.  She is a very cool creature.  She does eat roaches, though.  Chris was not a fan of that particular culinary choice.

We ended the day planning to watch the Astros game.  They made it through three innings with the Astros leading 5-1 before lightning caused the game to be suspended.  They will play the rest of it today before the next game of the series.

John 15:2 says, “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

Father, thank you for the rain and the subsequent growth it brings.  That’s a good thing.  Amen.
