August 5 – “True Love Waits”

Yesterday was True Love Waits day.  That’s kind of like youth camp, so I wrote some verses to the tune of I’m a Nut again.  Here goes:

Nine A.M.’s not early, no
‘Less your name is Cory, Whoa
Started teaching ‘round ‘bout ten
Mama Chris had us food then

Peanut butter, jelly too
Ham and cheese and chips, a few
Kelly’s food got smushed, looked dead
“It’s a sammich,” Lora said

Off to ministry we drove
Way down past Campeche Cove
Moved some stuff we all worked well
Up until old PK fell

Then to putt putt was our way
Oh, no, no, did Chloe say
We were HOT ‘fore game was done
With her aiming, Kelly won

Had some artists in the crowd
Comic strip by Lora wowed
Will Jimmy’s poor caped guy die?
Chloe’s guy to game said bye

Pizza followed up with floats
And Jimmy’s Visual Verse of note
Made some gifts for future spouse
Watched the fireworks from the house

Now it’s off to church you see
As we ponder purity
Self, friends, fam’ly, future mates
Here’s our pledge that True Love Waits.

Psalms 19:7 says, “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.  The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.”

Father, walk with these students as they make vows of purity.  Amen.
