August 11 – “Warehouse 13”

Have you seen the guy with no legs from South Africa run in the Olympics?  Pretty impressive.  They were in the 4 X 400 finals last night.  They came in last place, but it was still impressive to watch him run.  That’s sure to be a feel-good story for a long time to come.

We finally caught up to the present episode of one of our favorite TV shows.  It’s a Sci-fy channel show called Warehouse 13.  The premise is a lot of fun.  There are strange artifacts all over the world that have mysterious capabilities because of who used to own them.  A team of secret service agents are assigned to track them down all over the world, cover them with a blue gooey substance that neutralizes them, and transport them to a top secret storage facility in the hills of South Dakota.  There has been a similar facility in existence since at least the time of Alexander the Great (hence Warehouse 13).  In one episode the original Pandora’s Box was destroyed.  Apparently in the story of Pandora’s Box hope was stored in the bottom of the box.  After all the horrible plagues were released on the world, hope came out and made life worth living again.  So in that episode the whole box was destroyed, causing the entire world to lose all hope.  Stock markets crashed.  There was a rash of suicides.  Pretty bad stuff.  The team had to find Magellan’s astrolabe (some kind of directional device) which had the ability to turn back time.  Their adventure eventually took them to the Vatican.  So, did they find the mysterious astrolabe?  Were the sacrifices of the agents made in vain?  Have mysterious artifacts been unleashed on the world again?  Is the warehouse doomed?  Tune in to your local Netflix, or maybe Hulu, for the answer.  Here’s a clue.  The next new episode is on Monday night at 8 p.m.

Quick update on Mom.  She got kicked out of school yesterday.  Just kidding.  But we did have to go pick her up from Libbie’s Place.  They called because they couldn’t get her to eat or even really respond to them at all.  When we got there she was sitting in a wheelchair at the door waiting for us.  And of course when she saw us she responded right away and started talking like nothing was wrong.  Very strange.  She resumed her night roaming last night as well.  Not as many times as usual, though.  Guess she tired herself out getting into trouble at school.

Psalms 20:6 says, “Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.”

Father, help Chris get power sleep during those times between Mom’s night time journeys.  Amen.
