December 13 – “In the Record Books”

Cailyn spent the night with us again last night.  And this morning we had breakfast with DadDad again.  Chris was in the shower when she woke up.  I think she just bonds with the first person she sees in the morning.  She didn't want anybody else to hold her.  Made it so hard for DadDad – having to hold her and play with her and all.  But I was willing to make the sacrifice.  She went to her Daddy when they came to pick her up, but then she did something I have never seen her do.  She reached out for me to take her from him.  It only lasted a few moments before she wanted him back, but it happened.  Chalk up one for DadDad in the record books.

Pretty low crowds again today at church.  But again we had some brand new visitors.  One family from Kingwood said they would be at Seaside every time they come to their beach house.  And when they are here they want to be involved in ministry.  A few of them are professional clowns.  They can make those cool animals out of balloons.  Another guy was originally from Nigeria.  He was staying at the timeshares down the street, and they encouraged him to come to Seaside.  Two of Mom's best friends came as well.  They are planning to come to our home group party Thursday.

Tonight we have Caroling at the Corner.  We are going to set up a Seaside style manger scene at the corner of our lot near the street light.  We even have some goats coming again.  Next year I think we may get a camel.

We had a team of men here all weekend working on the school building.  They were from Temple, Dallas, and some other little towns in between.  At least that's how they put it.  I nicknamed them the Levites.  "Temple" workers had to be Levites in the Old Testament.  They have just about finished putting in the entire dropped ceiling.  They are also working on the framing for the bathroom stalls.  That was their goal for the trip.  If they don't finish, they will be awfully close.  It looks amazing.

Chris just left for Bay City again.  Her Mom has another chemo treatment in the morning.  If all goes well she will be home tomorrow evening.  Maybe I can look for a Christmas present for her tomorrow.  She still insists she doesn't want me to buy anything for her.  Maybe I can enlist some cohorts.  I'll think of something.

Psalms 138:5 says, "May they sing of the ways of the Lord, for the glory of the Lord is great."

Father, you are great.  Help me get to know more of your ways so I can add some verses to the song.  Amen.
