December 9 - “A one-eyed wife?”

Chris had another doctor appointment yesterday. This one was with the lady who will be doing her cataract surgery. Looks like Chris passed all the pre-op tests with flying colors. The soonest opening for the surgery, however, was not until January 3rd in League City. Chris’ left eye is officially on the schedule. Then there will be three follow-ups. One day after, one week after, then one month after. Once that is accomplished, we can start looking at scheduling the right eye. However … that puts things right in the middle of our Hawaii trip, and she won’t have any of that scenario. So it looks like she’ll wait until we get home to have the surgery. And I’ll have a one-eyed wife on our big trip. I think she’ll do just fine, as long as she doesn’t fall into a volcano.

Back home, we spent some time cleaning house in preparation for home group. Chris also did some more Christmas decorating. We (read here “me”) moved the fully decorated tree two or three times. Didn’t fall over even once.  Of course a few ornaments did take the plunge, but none that were breakable. Otherwise the order of the afternoon was the usual: sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the bathrooms.

Home group began with Chris and Helen racing through the task of stuffing gift bags for the market tomorrow. Everyone who comes to shop receives a tote bag with the word “Joy” on it.  Hey.  It gives them someplace to dump all their purchases.  Speaking of the market, it looks like we will be heading back up to the church this afternoon to finish up the last-minute stuff. Whatever we can get done today is one less thing we have to do at six in the morning.

Romans 12:2 says, Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Gods will ishis good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Father, please give Chris the patience to wait out this coming eye surgery.  And ease the frustrations she is having with that C-pap machine.  Amen.
