Kel and Christina had the early morning run yesterday. Wells, not so early. They went to a parents’ coffee on campus. They left around 9:30. See? Early for some (Jachin, Josiah, Noa were still abed). Not so early for others (Ezra was up and at ‘em for some time by then. Attaboy, Ezra - they’re just burning daylight, aren’t they?).
When Jachin woke up, Chris and I headed over to Walmart Pharmacy to see about getting her cancer prescription refilled. Pretty important one.
At first everything seemed fine. But then, something went awry (always wanted to say that).
We went back to the pharmacy before we left the store, only to be told that Randall’s pharmacy in Galveston said she had no refills. We made sure we had that pharmacy phone number, and when we got home, Chris called the doctor’s office to track down the discrepancy. Of course she had to leave a message and wait for a call back.
They did finally call. And lo and behold, according to their records, she had not one, but two refills remaining. They promised to call the Walmart in Lynchburg immediately and get the prescription forwarded. And the wait began.
Meanwhile, after lunch, we all piled in the cars and headed up the mountain … literally. Liberty Mountain has a ski resort of some kind with capacity to have rides even in the summer. Of course it was closed.
Plan B was to find a hiking trail somewhere nearby. However, it was raining.
Plan C became another trip to Walmart to get Liberty University clothing. I got an island shirt with the logo on it. Chris got a T-shirt emblazoned with a big “Liberty Flames” on the front. I think everybody got some sort of paraphernalia, so our school spirit is ensured.
That led us to Plan D. Bowling. There was a bowling alley on campus, so we decided to brave the rain and check it out. It wasn’t very big, but it was great for our group. Chris was worried about my thumbs and back. And as it turned out, rightly so. They hurt. I didn’t break a hundred, but I did manage to throw a strike - left handed. I’ll take the win.
Last night Micah came over for a special treat. We actually found Blue Bell ice cream at the Walmart here. And Micah found some cinnamon crusted tacos to put it in. Yum.
Isaiah 60:1 says, Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord shines over you.
Father, thanks for all the adventures involved in the different “plans” of our day. Amen.
