May 5 – “Snippets”

Yesterday was another yard work day around our house.  The front was not hard at all.  One benefit of all the grass mysteriously dying.  There are patches growing back, though, so we still have to stay on top of it.  I also did some heavy pruning of the sunflower arbor.  Chris even took a few of the smaller growths over to Brennan’s for him to plant in his back yard.

Sam checked back in with us.  Seems she liked the emoji I sent of a tiny little ambulance.  Some tests had already been run, and others were still pending, but her own docs were now involved, so she is in good hands.  Not to mention all the prayers going up in her behalf.

We needed to be in three places at once last night.  I went to a surprise birthday party for the fire chief.  It was at a venue in Santa Fe that was hidden down a side road near where Cailyn has had some softball games.  Apparently the Chief’s wife managed to keep the even a surprise from him.  Most impressive part of the evening?  The cake, hands down.  It was a fire chief’s helmet.  Now Nathan had one of those at his wedding, and honestly Nathan’s was at least as good.  But this one also had a fire hose wrapped around the cake, with the nozzle at the end.  Very realistic.

Micah and Josiah both had baseball games at the same time as the party, so Chris headed up to League City to watch them.  I was receiving play by play from Chris about the games.  I know Micah scored at least once after working a 3-2 pitch for a walk.  And Josiah had a double to right field and a disputed ground-out to shortstop.  Nice job, Guys.

And then afterwards we met up at a food truck park in Santa Fe.  Did not even know there was such a thing.  Five food trucks provided fine cuisine (Chris had chicken tacos.  I had already had barbecue at the chief’s party).  A nice playground gave the kids plenty of room to run around.  And Salty Sounds provided live music.  That’s the band, two thirds of which are Seasiders, and the other guy lives in Gulf Village.  Last night a good group of other Seasiders had driven in for the event, so we all sat together and enjoyed the music and each other’s company.

And now I am rushing out to our Servolution project.  We are providing snacks and drinks to the voters coming out to our voting site.  I also have a wedding consultation scheduled there at the church as well.  So … already a busy day.  Better get hopping.

Psalms 57:11 says, “Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.”

Father, thanks for the fun we had at the Park last night.  Thanks for Chief Wisko and the work he has done.  And please continue to walk with Sam as she deals with doctors and hospitals and the like.  Amen.
