October 3 – “An adult-ish experience”

We have been trying to wrap up all we can before we take off for a few days on an adult –ish trip to Branson, Missouri with eleven other Seasiders.  It’s the long-awaited Moses Trip.  We are going to see the play they put on up there with live animals (and people) that portrays the life and times of Moses.  We also plan to do a few of the other things available in the area.  I understand there might be enough activity up there to keep us entertained.  Never been.  I’m doing a devotional for the group every morning, so part of my day was spent finishing those up and then trolling through WalMart and the Dollar Store looking for just the right “Moses Memorabilia” to make sure the folks remember something.  Oh, and I’m also not sure about availability of internet once we arrive, so may not be posting for next few days. If so, it may be quite short and sweet.  I know.  I know.  The blog posts are always sweet, right?  Just not necessarily short.

We managed to make another connection flood relief-wise on Sunday afternoon.  The families that the Wyrick’s have been working with in Dickinson reached the point where they needed dehumidifiers.  I checked in with the SendRelief crew based at First Baptist Church here in town, and they happily provided just what we needed.  Sharon made the delivery to the families that very day.  Haven’t heard any feedback yet on their response, but it sure is fun for me to be able to provide resources and then watch as people get a chance to do some ministry to their neighbor.

OK.  That’s enough for today.  Gotta get you in the “short” mood for the rest of the week.

1 John 2:28 says, “And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.”

Father, please continue to touch the hearts of the families the Wyrick’s are ministering to.  Draw them to yourself.  Give them more than a glimpse – maybe a good, long stare – of what a Christian looks like.  Amen.
