I spent most of the day yesterday working
on the sermon for Sunday. I’m planning
to do a word study, verse by verse, of John 6:1-15, where Jesus feeds the five
thousand people. That format takes a lot
of preparation time. I’ll be working on
that for the rest of the week.
Chris took Mom to the Wednesday Club
luncheon. It was a chore getting her
ready, but Chris said she did OK once they got there. Problem came after she got home. She was really off again. At one point she took off outside, so I was
in close pursuit behind her. I steadied
her on the front porch and asked where she was going. She couldn’t get out any place in particular,
but she did her best to get back into the car.
It was locked, though, so she finally just said, “Oh, well,” and headed
back toward the house. She ended up
sitting on the front porch rocker for about an hour, watching the cars go by
and keeping watch over the neighbor’s houses.
She continued that task, by the way when she came back inside. She went back toward her bedroom, but when
Chris went back to check on her, she was in the spare bedroom peeking through
the blinds to make sure she didn’t miss anything. I remember her doing that when I was growing up. Some things never change.
Last night I went out to the church for our
prayer time. There were just a few of us,
but it seems that in general, things seem to go a lot better around there when
we keep that up. Imagine that.
James 5:16 says, “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so
that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and
effective.”
Father, thank you for listening. Amen.
