April 3 – “Easter eggs”

We had our big Easter egg dyeing, Easter egg hunting big roast in the crockpot for lunch family day this morning with our Galveston based grandkids.  And their parents, too.  We got a big kick out of Cailyn finding eggs.  She amazed her Daddy with the way she took to finding the eggs and putting them into her basket.  She didn't even stop to open any.  And she carried her basket around like it was a purse on her arm.  Jachin found so many he finally quit looking and started inspecting his loot.  Micah stayed with it until the last of the hidden eggs were uncovered by Uncle Nathan, Uncle Kel, and DadDad.  Nathan and April and Cailyn had to leave early.  April was involved with the fire fighters' ladies auxiliary egg hunt this afternoon.  But they left full.  Well, at least Nathan did.  He couldn't even eat dessert.

Chris hasn't chosen which of the dyed eggs she is going to save this year.  One will for sure be the one we all signed.  That one makes the cut every year.  Nathan made a cool one with his firefighters' local emblem on it.  Jachin did one that had a baseball theme, with a bat, ball and glove.  Chris even had Cailyn scribbling on an egg to get her input.

See, every year Chris saves one or two of the hard boiled eggs.  As long as they don't crack, they will slowly decay inside and you can't smell a thing.  But woe to the whole neighborhood if one of them does have a crack.  The smell is unimaginably bad.  She lost most of the old ones she had from years past – thank you Hurricane Ike.  Now she is excited about continuing her tradition.

Matthew 28:5-7 says, "The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

Father, thanks for showing me that once again you are ahead of us.
