April 8 - “Extra parts”

Chris finished our packing first thing in the morning. That accomplishment was followed closely by a great homemade  breakfast of bacon and eggs and pancakes. Better than  hotel, for sure.

We were just settling in to watch two worship services on line. One from Waco and the other from Jamaica Beach. I managed to get the computer set up and connected to the TV. Got the Columbus Avenue feed going. And then …

Yep. It was one of  THOSE days. Larry noticed that the floor of the bathroom seemed to be wet, and not from his shower. He did a little investigation, and found a small drop coming from … the toilet. Yay. Just what I was hoping for. Toilet leak.

Larry and I started the process of taking the old gasket out and reinstalling the new one. We had to go to Home Depot for the new part. They didn’t have the exact same one (of course), but we grabbed the only one that looked remotely close. Back at the house we got it installed and tightened up. Only had two or three extra parts. Or so we thought. Sure enough, it started leaking again. Back to work.

This time Larry did a super-serious plumber’s inspection. And he discovered what we had missed the first time. We had to take the whole thing apart, drain it again, and reinstall using (ready for this?) … all those ”extra parts.” This time it took. At least we think it did. We told Sam to call Janell if it started spewing or anything.

Nathan got here around noon, and we loaded up and headed to the docks for loading day at the cruise ship. Finally.

We had a bit of a wait before they actually started up the engines. After strolling around the ship a bit and grabbing a bite to eat, we retired to our stateroom to crash for a while before dinner and our late show. We saw a few dolphins while relaxing on our balcony, and none other than The Elissa made a pass-by. And all before ever leaving the dock. Not bad.

We finally headed down to our dinner assignment. We are seated with Larry and Diane along with four other of our new closest friends. We both had a crab cake for an appetizer. Best part of the meal. Then Chris had grilled chicken. I had fish. Topped it off with cheesecake (Chris) and key lime pie (me). Pretty good start to the food stuffs.

After dinner we roamed around the shop some more. By the time we finally got back to the room I had recorded well over nine thousand steps for the day. That’s a lot when my max has been between six and seven thousand. All that to say … I for one was exhausted.

Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭18‬ says, “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,“

Father, thank you for getting us this far. Come on with us. Amen.
